West Coast Proposal
I was approached by Oswald just as last year was ending, he had big plans for his New Year. He intended to pop the question to his gorgeous girlfriend Illana, and wanted me there to make sure they had these memories in photos for ever. As far as the actual proposal moment went, he decided to keep this precious time purely for themselves. He then arranged a big family lunch at the always festive The Standloper and I met them there for an official engagement shoot and some family fun. I asked the couple to share a little information on their relationship and their proposal, this is what I got and it couldn’t be any more perfect….
“Hey Laura, Illana and I poured ourselves a glass of wine last night and sat on our porch with full intention to write something about our relationship and before we knew it we flew through a few glasses and wound up talking most of the night and never got to writing something. But I guess that is perfect because it pretty much sums up our relationship as we always lose track of time when we are in each other’s company; getting lost in conversation with Angus and Julia stone humming in the background and wine wetting our throats. The proposal was pretty much the same; if I didn’t specifically break away in the middle of our topic of conversation and lead her towards a walk on the beach I probably would have gone home that night kicking myself because I never got to ask her the most important question I have ever had to ask. Illana is my best friend, my pillar and my inspiration. Thank you for capturing our raw and true feelings so beautifully!”
