From Bo-Kaap to Sea Point. I just love it when couples are as enthusiastic as I am, especially when it comes to shooting at different locations in Cape Town. We started in the always colorful and creativity inspiring Bo-Kaap then chased the sun to the popular fitness junkies paradise, the Sea Point promenade. I will […]Read More
Brent & Kendals wedding at the Goedgedacht Olive farm in Riebeek Kasteel was my first at this venue. I had never heard of it before, but was pleasantly surprised by all it had to offer. The boat house, the chapel and not to forget the breath taking views, it ticks all the boxes for an […]Read More
Zirkea & Niels wedding was the first to be held at Oak Valley in Grabouw. This information really surprised me, as this is positively one of the most beautiful forest venues there is. Every element is breath taking, I was the happiest wedding photographer ever. I just know that the popularity of this venue is […]Read More
Towards the end of last year I ran a competition to “Win your wedding Photography”. Wanika & Matthew were one of the runners up and qualified for a Studio Couple shoot at Light Lounge Studios. I really wanted to try and break the mold of cliched studio images and feel we were successful with these. […]Read More
Diemersfontein has always felt to me to have a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel, I just love the vast lush gardens and impressive Manor House. Toby & Talia’s summer wedding fit perfectly into these surroundings. Having an outside ceremony and reception is always risky in the Western Cape, but luckily for us the […]Read More
We decided on Vergelegen Wine Estate at the last minute for Ed & Heathers engagement shoot, and what a treat. There is just so many photo opportunites, so much so that we could cover it all in one day and decided to head back on their wedding day.Read More
Kirstenbosch Gardens as a back drop for an engagement shoot…does it really get better then this? I know I have mentioned this before but I am truly the biggest fan of Cape Town and all she has to offer. The more I explore the more I am grateful to be a photographer in this amazing […]Read More
So here you are on my blog, I guess you want to know a little bit about me. Well, with the possibility of confessing the ultimate cliche’, my two biggest passions happen to be photography and travel, I know I know but its true! Cant get enough of either of them. I have dragged my camera to several places around the globe such as London, France, California, Alaska, China, Shanghai, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam and Singapore. But the best of all is, I don’t intend to stop there.
Meeting new people goes hand in hand with traveling, another one of my favorite things. I love meeting new people and learning about them. What better way of getting to know somebody, than sharing and capturing them in their most important and cherished moments? Engagements, Weddings, Babies etc. Its a great ice breaker lets just say that. If you carry on exploring my blog you will see a few highlights of the people I have had the privileged of not only knowing but also photographing. I strive to bring out the fun and quirkiness in a couple or family, keeping it completely real and honest.
I don’t want to limit or bracket myself or you to one specific kind of photographic service, the most obvious would be weddings, engagement shoots and corporate events. But I feel there is so much more than that to offer. Even if your not getting married or having a new baby or throwing a huge party, I would still like to be involved and take amazing photos with you, be it in your day to day environment or something a little more glam. The possibilities are endless and so are the photo opportunities.
I decided to start in the beginning with couple shoots. If you are getting married, these provide a great opportunity to feel more comfortable in front of a camera as well as with your chosen photographer.
My little nick name for these are “no pressure shoots” for the photographer as well as the couple. They are a chance to have loads of fun and really let your personalities show without having the pressures of time or other people. Its just you and your photographer.
Couple shoots are definitely not restricted to people planning to walk the aisle. If your interested in getting in front of a camera with your partner and have some fun, just do it, there are no rules in “no pressure shoots.”
Weddings are fun, exciting, emotional and stressful. They usually fly by in the blink of an eye, any bride will admit that. I am there to make sure every single element is captured right from the beginning to the very end.
I am the first to admit to being one serious hopeless romantic. I use this characteristic as a strength when photographing a wedding. Rather letting the emotions and excitement lead the photographer then the other way round.
I have only begun to touch on all the possibilities and opportunities studio photography has to offer. I am lucky enough to work from Light Lounge Studio, the only working studio in the Northern Suburbs. I would be silly not to take advantage of this.
The studio is not just for people interested in perusing a modeling career, instead I prefer to think of it is another photographic tool used to create beautiful and honest images in a controlled environment.
Just because we are indoors per say, doesn’t mean we cant get dirty and bring the outside in. There are no rules when it comes to any aspect of photography and I just want to see how far I can push this one.
I would like to encourage anyone who is interested in bending the norm of studio photography to contact me. Families with children who want to get down and dirty and play a little, young couples, older couples, pets (yip they can get involved too) single portraits, friends etc.
Every body needs a chance to let their hair down, hard working people even more so. Year end functions, business launches, team buildings etc I would love to be there.
